AAR008 – Manic Mundane is Kath Dizon's second solo project that she started in 2021. From initially a project she named "Beat blocks at 3” as an undertaking dedicated to overcoming her writer’s block and anxiety from losing all music files from her first solo music project as KTHDRLZ, Manic Mundane became the continuation of her navigating the plethora of divine soundscapes -- crafting a collage of retro 80s melodies and futuristic synth layers along with trip-hop rhythmic elements forming a lush to dark cinematic inspired soundscape.
In comparison to her previous solo work as KTHDRLZ, her sound as Manic Mundane is somehow evident that she's more open now artistically. It is in equal parts lush and harsh manifested in its dreamlike synth atmosphere and distorted strains with a prominence of chord progression and transitions. The vocals are sparsely dream-pop like with a dissonance for moody compressions.
Kath refers to Manic Mundane as her catharsis project since it conceded to her navigating the personal experiences she is going through in her songwriting process. On the production side, she explores melding and experimenting on disparate genres that she accumulated to live by growing up.
First issue of cassettes is limited to 20 copies only.
